Women Rock Excelsior brewery Group1

Can I just say running, girlfriends, eating and lets not forget the drinks….soooo much fun!  This past weekend I ran my first 5K race based on my heart rate.  It was actually fun and not once did I worry about my pace.  I just made sure my heart rate was where it was suppose to be each mile and had fun along the way.  Of course, spending time with all these fun ladies at a dear friend’s Bachelorette party made it even more entertaining!

The day started with me rolling out of bed at 5:15 am, having my lemon water concoction, foam rolling, stretches and finally a light smoothie before loading up my car!  Sarah planned such an amazing day for her sis who will soon be married.  Check out these adorable shirts!  Super comfy too!

Sarah and I quickly mades some Chocolate Banana Smoothies for anyone who wanted one and than we all pitched in and loaded up our bus with coolers of adult beverages and snacks.  Sarah also had adorable goodie bags labeled with our names on them which were full of fun stuff!  She’s amazing!

My friend Sarah really knows how to throw a party!  Her sis Rachael is getting married in just two weeks and I had such fun getting to know her friends near and far.  What a great group of ladies.  We seriously had so much fun!

And the race went pretty good too considering it didn’t start till 10 am which is a bit late on my body clock for running.  And the best part, I just ran, not worrying about my pace since all I was concerned with was my heart rate.  With that being said, I still averaged 7:45 pace and ran a 5K just over 24 minutes.

Technically  this was actually my I second EAT (enhanced Anaerobic Threshold).  The first mile I held back, which trust me, is not easy to do in a 5K.  I maintained an average heart rate of 162 and with a 7:59 pace.  My next 2K, 7:38 with a 172 heart rate.  Faster so that’s good.  Interesting enough, my heart rate stayed about 172 and my pace stayed about the same too.  I passed the finish line in just over 24 minutes.  Considering I am in the middle of marathon training, and I ran on tired legs, I am more than pleased with the outcome.  It’s super cool to see the data and use it to strategize for future races.

EAT #2 5K

Ok, enough of the run.   Runners love to eat and we definitley had our share of some damn good food.  If you haven’t been to the Buttered Tin, GO!  I’ve been there dozens of times and not once have I been disappointed.   The coffee, pastries, Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, and food are all amazing!  I am in love with their damn good egg sandwich.

After our lovely trip to the St. Paul’s Farmers Market and our yummy brunch at the Buttered Tin we made a quick stop at the Excelsior Brewery.

Our next stop….the Crow River Winery.  More fun and more drinks!  But it didn’t end there!  Sarah had an incredible spread planned with the help of Rachael’s Bridal party and my famous Guacamole.  Super yummy Chicken Tacos, Salads, Guacamole, chips and mouthwatering cupcakes from Angie and hearty cookies for desert.  Runners are really good and preparing good healthy food, lots of it too!  Good thing, because we were all famished!

Finally gift opening, a fire, and you guessed it.  Off to Main Street Bar for one last toast.  Whew, I am tired just writing this post, much less lasting all day and all night.  Thanks Sarah and thank you Rach!  I am happy and blessed to be your friends.
