Gone are the days when cabbages were add to soups and coleslaws. Seriously friends, you will want to make this weekly! These Cabbage Steaks are tender, delicious, and dressed in a mouthwatering Yogurt-filled Sauce that will leave you craving more.

Picture this: a perfectly roasted cabbage slice, beautifully seasoned, with a tantalizingly creamy yogurt sauce that gracefully complements the natural flavors of the vegetable. Now, let’s delve into the magic of creating these cabbage steaks and the exceptional yogurt-filled sauce.

What you need:

  • your sharp kitchen knife for slicing your cabbage
  • a whole head of cabbage
  • seasonings ~ your choice
  • yogurt
  • fresh dill
  • fresh garlic (also optional)
  • lemon

Cabbage Steaks with a Yogurt-filled Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 large, fresh cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

For the Yogurt-filled Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Cabbage Steaks:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Carefully slice the cabbage into thick, even “steaks.”
    • Drizzle both sides of each slice with olive oil, ensuring they are evenly coated.
    • Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper over the cabbage steaks, massaging the spices into the surface gently.

    I tried these Cabbage Steaks tonight. They are so good! I love the spice combination you use, the Smoked Paprika really enhances them. I am off dairy this week so I spread Hummus on them. It was very good, but I am looking forward to trying the yogurt sauce next time. I think the Tangyness will be perfect.

      Thank you Keri! I love your idea of using hummus! Also you can try using coconut or cashew yogurt. I have used non-dairy and the results were delicious too!
