Luck of the Lakes 5K Race Fun

Who else ran a Shamrock Shuffle Race for St. Patrick’s Day?  I do hope your weather was a good as mine!  Last time I ran a 5K, it was much COLDER and a bit windy!  But than again, most of our winter has been COLD AND WINDY!

But Saturday the sun was shining.  There was no wind.  The temps were in the high 20’s, and the roads definitley rose up to meet me…meaning there were a few hills!

Great Race Swag! Rob espeically loved the beer glasses!

The only announcement at the start of the race that made me a bit nervous was this: “it’s still winter running so be-careful out there runners because there is still some ice patches on the course, espeically on the hills.”  “OH GEEZ” I said.

To be honest, after a busy, but blessed week with my grandkids, I wasn’t quite sure how this run would even go. To my surprise, it went pretty good.  Granted it wasn’t a PR, but than again, I believe those days are gone since I am no longer in my 30’s, or even my 40’s, but approaching 60.

Brunch after was delicious too…plus they had bullet proof coffee on the menu.  This is the Sunshine Bowl.

With that being said, I was quite pleased with my run. In spite of a busy week, which you can read more about here,I felt GREAT!

My only goal was to have fun! I ran by feel and decided not to worry about my Heart Rate or Finish time. It was a fun run and I finished with a time of 24:37, fifth in my age group & I averaged sub 8 minute miles.  I am truly blessed and thankful to still be running!
