Energizing Matcha Green Tea Latte (& Protein)

Who else enjoys Matcha Tea?  A Matcha tea latte is truly one of my favorite hot weather beverages.  Not going to lie however, I’d much rather be enjoying this cold in the warmth of the sunshine in April verses staring at 16 inches of snow!  Snow in April is not my favorite cup of “tea”. Regardless, warm or cold, I am addicted!!

Even coffee addicts love this stuff and it’s definitely a good way to cut back on your caffeine consumption.  Matcha tea is actually the second healthiest beverage next to water.  If you’re wanting to take a coffee hiatus, which I promise isn’t so bad, substitute this delicious latte.  You’ll soon be as obsessed as I am!

The recipe for this cozy afternoon delight is super simple. All you need to do is blend the matcha powder and the grass fed whey (optional) with a steamed milk, that I warm on the stove (or use your frother).

I prefer unsweetened vanilla almond milk but feel free to use your favorite choice of milk…dairy or non-dairy. I sweeten mine with a couple drops of vanilla creme stevia, and for my vanilla fans, how about a splash of pure vanilla or peppermint extract? “Yes Please” .

If you’re a cinnamon lover, try stirring with a cinnamon stick.

I’ve been enjoying Shaklee’s Organic Energizing Green Matcha Tea for several years now becuase I love the cozy green tea-y flavor. They also have a pomegranate flavor which is just as delicious. They both make a tasty treat you can enjoy warm or cold in the morning or as an afternoon pick-me-up. I love it in the afternoon with one of my homemade protein bites or bars before my afternoon yoga class.

I also love how versatile this powder is.  Sometimes I add it to my smoothies and I adore these cashew bites made with Matcha tea.  They make a great long run fuel, or a healthy snack!  In case you’re wondering, Matcha tea is actually finely ground tea leaves so you’re actually consuming the whole leaf. This will give us double the amount of antioxidants than if you were to sip on brewed green tea. “Are you ready to make the best and healthiest latte on the planet?”

Good because I promise you’ll feel energized for hours and won’t get the caffeine spike you get from coffee!
