Refreshing Avocado Mint Protein Smoothie, Our World is a Mess, Leaning into Faith, Do You Care?

Summer is here! If you are you love summer as much as I do, then you are happy and enjoying all the fun outdoor activities. Or maybe not?

It may be hot & windy, but I always feel better after a run and I keep showing up!

Yes this summer may look a little different because so many of our favorite activities are cancelled. Races are being cancelled all over the states and internationally. I have no idea when or where I’ll run another marathon but until then, I keep showing up. Maybe you are not a runner but possibly have kids who would love to go to the local water park? Most likely also closed. Graduation open houses and other large gatherings may have also been postponed? Was your summer vacation put on hold, or at least modified? It’s definitely disappointing!

I have no idea how you’re feeling about COVID and our Racism issue in America, but it’s definitely a troublesome time. Our world is a mess. We may have ignored this fact for long time but in my opinion, and many others, we can no longer deny the fact our world is F***d up. It’s in our face! All you have to do is watch the news, or look on social media, or listen to conversations, or in all honestly, all of the above to realize this. I don’t have any answers but I will continue to listen, learn, and as my pastor said in this week’s sermon, lean into my faith.

What does that look like? I am definitely not perfect but I do my best to begin each day in the word by reading my devotions and than I pray, mostly likely while I am running. I pray for Jesus to help me be a faithful servant to him, to go about this day doing what is right, what is good, what is helpful, loving Jesus, loving neighbors, and being kind to all. But at the end of each day, I also repent, because I am not perfect. I am thankful I have found Jesus and pray you will find him too, and when you do, tell the world.

At least…CARE! If you have not watched the video below, I highly recommend. It is powerful…..

Do one Thing….CARE!

I am also doing my best to live a healthy lifestyle so I can continue to run for many more years because I just feel better after a run. I am not getting any younger, and guess what, neither are you. So if you are a runner, walker, or like to keep active, may I strongly suggest you do what you can to be pro-active about your lifestyle choices. It’s essential.

Running has always been my choice of exercise but as I get older I realize even more the importance of doing certain things that will help me stay injury free.

Most of us know We Can Not Out Run a Bad Diet so my number one suggestion, eat a variety of whole foods. Nutrition is key everyone. You can run and workout like a crazy person but if you have not figured out how to meet your daily macro needs, guess what, you most likely will not reach your goals.

Doesn’t this look yummy….It is?.

I also have discovered strength training is no longer an option. I also try and get a massage at least monthly and I love the convenience of my in home Infrared sauna. I am also very thankful for Shaklee Food Supplements. They have definitley helped me and many others live a more active life style as we age. I am living proof and so is my almost 85 year old mother who is on NO prescription meds❤️!

Because I want to continue doing what I love, I practice intermittent fasting religiously and break my fast late morning with a delicious and healthy smoothie. It’s the perfect balance of protein, carbs, and fat. Plus many of us are looking for ways to stay cool without hitting the pool or the beach.

Which of these are most important to you when looking for a protein shake? Shaklee has them all! And they are delicious!

Smoothies are AMAZING—it’s no secret that the smoothie is a tried and true staple guaranteed to cool you down before and after any intense summer activity, and there’s no better protein to mix with your favorite ingredients than Shaklee’s protein powder. This is one of the most refreshing smoothies I have made…..ENJOY?.
